College Governors

Welcome from the Chair of Governors

I am privileged to be the Chair of Governors for this inspiring, innovative and exciting College provision for young adults with a learning disability and complex needs. Horizons College provides our learners with continuing educational, leisure and work/volunteering opportunities and our learners provide us with the inspiration to strive to continually evaluate, improve and develop so that we meet their needs as well as their aspirations.

The aim of the Local Governing Committee is to work with the staff in helping College learners achieve their full potential in a happy, caring and safe environment.

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch for more information, with praise, concerns or with any worries.

Kind regards,
Alec Hunt
Chair of Governors

College Governance

The English College system is amongst the best in the world and has a central role in supporting the attainment of young people and adults, preparation for employment and further study and continued skills development.  It supports the aspirations of its learners, both for their own sake and to serve the needs of society.  It also plays a role in shaping democratic, sustainable and inclusive communities.  These well-defined purposes create the need for governance structures and practices which involve engaging with governors, staff, learners, parents / carers, other education partners and the business community.
