Pathway to Independence
Course Information
This programme is for learners over 16 with complex needs who require a bespoke learning programme with individualised behavior management and support.
Learners will follow a curriculum that is tailored to their individual needs, focusing on developing independent skills, both in familiar and unfamiliar environments. This will include accessing the community safely and working to develop strategies to manage their own behaviour.
The course aims to equip learners with life skills and coping strategies to help them transition into adulthood.
The course includes activities such as:
- Shopping & Cooking
- Activities for Daily Living
- Travel Training
- Community Participation
- Functional Skills (English & Maths)
- ICT
- Work Experience including Retail, Farm Work & Animal Care
All of our learners take part in enterprise or work experience, both internally and with local employers. We offer a range of Vocational Options for you to choose from so you can study subjects that are interesting and relevant to you.
Qualifications
We offer a wide range of options and activities.
Our aim is to get everyone ready for the next step in life, whether this is supported/unsupported living or employment. Learners will study Numeracy and Literacy in a functional way and achieve qualifications with an appropriate awarding body.
Moving on…
From the study programme learners can progress to other college courses such as Pathway to Employment or Supported Internship. When the time is right for learners to leave us, we will explore their next steps together and support their transition.
Entry Requirements
Applicants need to be over 16 and have an Education, Health and Care Plan.
Other Activities
Learners will also get the opportunity to take part in activities such as: Sport, Music & Art, Sensory, Swimming and Therapy
Course Cost
The course is free to full time learners with an EHCP.
